The Float

This shows the northern end of 'The Float' in Swansea docks, established in 1854. You can see the Great Western Railway in the background. The painting is a view from the Bath and Sons Iron and Silver ore wharves in the late 1850s. It shows the fine buildings in the Strand and the Pottery at the top of the Float. A ship is being towed downstream from the Patent Fuel wharf toward the lock gates and the North Docks bason
